The Daviau family is an old family from the Angevin vineyard. As early as the 16th century, its ancestors exploited a vineyard on the hillsides surrounding Brissac. The 50-hectare estate is now managed by Christophe Daviau, heir to the family tradition. He succeeded his father Jean Pierre after studying oenology at the University of Bordeaux II.
They cultivate several grape varieties: Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are planted on soils of shales and Armorican sandstones; as well as Cabernet Franc, which needs a regular water supply, planted on deeper soils such as clay-limestone.
Faithful to his respect of the environment, he has committed to organic farming since 1996.
Today, all the vineyards are cultivated in biodynamic agriculture. The vines are ploughed and do not receive any herbicide or synthetic pesticide. This approach requires more attention and work, but the result is healthy vines without any chemical pesticide residues.
This approach combined with the ancestral principles of winemaking give their wines their traditional characteristics.
