The name Akemi means ‘beauty of dawn’ in Japan, and Viura is the indigenous grape varietal in Rioja, Spain – known in other parts of Spain as Macabeo.
This Akemi Viura is categorised by the vibrant and lively expression of the clay and limestone-rich soil, in which it is grown. The wine is aged for six months in oak and for an additional six months in bottle prior to release. White Rioja continues to be on the up, and this is a delightful expression of the wine.
Created especially for Rioja award-winning chef Felix Jimenez for his Japanese/Riojan fusion dishes. Full of ripe tropical fruit, grapefruit, subtle pepper and floral notes. Textured and complex on the palate, yet satisfyingly refreshing with tropical fruit and vanilla.
